Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine Steps Up to Improve Patient Experience at Trinity Free Clinic
“Wow. This place is just like a real doctor’s office.”
Patients and visitors to Trinity Free Clinic are always impressed by the beautiful facility we enjoy through the generosity of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Our volunteers work hard to make sure that patients receive the best possible care and are put at ease. A big step to making that happen is creating an environment for our patients that is both peaceful and professional.
As the result of a gift from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine, our patient rooms received an upgrade this quarter with new exam tables. While working at the clinic on Thursday evenings, Dr. Michael Summers and his students noticed that our medical exam tables didn’t raise or lower easily. These exam tables had been donated to us when Trinity Free Clinic moved into the Matthew 25 Center in 2011 from a medical office that had closed.
When Marian University purchased new exam tables for their simulation practice labs, Dr. Summers and his students thought of us. The beautiful new exam tables had only very light use in the simulation labs, and are practically brand new. The new exam tables will dramatically improve the experience for patients and volunteers alike.
In addition to the donation and delivery of the new exam tables, Marian University also arranged to have our old tables delivered to FAME. Through FAME, our old exam tables will get a third life when they are shipped overseas to doctors, nurses, and missionaries to help provide humanitarian medical care around the world.
We are deeply grateful to the Marian University School of Osteopathic Medicine for their commitment to serve the community and for their partnership.
