Volunteer Spotlight: Dental Volunteer with Huge Heart Continues Journey of Personal Growth

Trinity Free Clinic is consistently blessed with volunteers who have a servant’s heart. Dalia Mohamed is a shining example of someone who consistently gives joyfully to our patients.
Dalia began volunteering with Trinity Free Clinic in February of this year, and has already generously given more than 75 hours of her time. Although she humbly serves our patients as a dental clinical assistant, dental instrument tech, and Arabic interpreter, Dalia was a practicing dentist in Sudan for four years before her move to Columbus, Indiana in 2011. Soon after arriving in Columbus, Dalia volunteered as a Sunday school principal and teacher of a Sunday school. She was also an interfaith panel representative. More recently, Dalia and her family moved to Fishers, and she immediately found new ways to serve the community, volunteering with a local chuch to serve meals to the homeless.
Dalia has been a real gift to our patients. Trinity Free Clinic Dental Coordinator, Terri Smith, explains, “Dalia will do anything at any time to pick up a loose ends in the clinic, whether it be translating, assisting, cleaning rooms and instruments, or emptying the trash. She is patient and insightful to others’ needs and has a great sense of humor. She is just a delight!”
On September 9, Dalia learned that she has been accepted into Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, where she will begin classes in January! We will miss Dalia’s warm smile, kind heart, and loving service at Trinity Free Clinic, but we are so happy that she has been admitted to dental school and will be able to continue her journey to certify for dentistry here in the United States. Congratulations, Dalia!
