About Dr. Michael Summers
Dr. Michael Summers earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Butler University in 1981 and his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1985. He completed his Family Practice Residency with Community Hospital Indianapolis in 1988.
Dr. Summers is an assistant professor of family medicine at the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM). While in private practice, Dr. Summers often taught residents and medical students rotating through his office. He enjoys teaching clinical skills as well as educating students on all aspects of medicine. He has a special interest in preventative care, diabetes, sports medicine, family practice procedures, physician well-being, and coordination of the modern healthcare system.
Previously, Dr. Summers served as clinical director of the Community Hospital Residency program and as the medical director for the Hancock Physician Network. Dr. Summers was voted a Top Doctor in Family Medicine by Indianapolis Monthly magazine in 2011, 2012, and 2013. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Indiana State Medical Association, and the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians. He is a lifelong resident of Indiana and is married with three daughters and two grandchildren.
